"AN ACT CONCERNING THE PAYMENT OF CERTAIN COSTS FROM BOND FUNDS. "

After the last section, add the following and renumber sections and internal references accordingly:

"Sec. 501. (Effective July 1, 2008) (a) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 4-30a of the general statutes, the State Treasurer shall transfer a sufficient amount from the Budget Reserve Fund to the Department of Correction, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009, for the purpose of hiring an additional two hundred correction officers.

(b) The Department of Correction shall assign the correction officers hired pursuant to subsection (a) of this section in such a manner as to ensure adequate staffing at all correction facilities. "
