"AN ACT CONCERNING THE PAYMENT OF CERTAIN COSTS FROM BOND FUNDS. "

After the last section, add the following and renumber sections and internal references accordingly:

"Sec. 501. (Effective July 1, 2008) (a) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 4-30a of the general statutes, the State Treasurer shall transfer a sufficient amount from the Budget Reserve Fund to the Department of Correction, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009, for the purpose of hiring an additional one hundred twenty-eight correction officers.

(b) The Department of Correction shall assign the correction officers hired pursuant to subsection (a) of this section in such a manner as to ensure adequate staffing at all correction facilities. "
